The Moonvalley winery, designed by BORD Architectural Studio, stands out for its clear technological order and linear organization of spaces. The design creates a museum-like atmosphere, showcasing the high-tech wine-making equipment while maintaining a transparent and minimalist aesthetic.
One of the key features of the winery is its use of local stone on the outer walls, inspired by the buttresses built of ochre stones collected from the hillside. This choice of material not only connects the new building with the existing structures but also adds a sense of authenticity and harmony to the design.
Inside the winery, visitors are greeted with homogenous surfaces, luminous ceilings, and skylight elements that mark out and frame each functional unit. The industrial spaces serve as exhibition halls, allowing guests to appreciate the aesthetics of technology and the intricate process of turning grapes into wine.
The design of the Moonvalley winery also promotes interaction between visitors and wine production. Transparent glass structures connect the shop area to the industrial spaces, allowing guests to observe the wine-making process without disturbing the workflow. Additionally, visitors can join a tour deep into the 2 km long cellar system inside the hill, gaining insights into the rich history and craftsmanship behind the wines.
Completed in 2012, the Moonvalley winery is a testament to the fusion of tradition and technology. It pays homage to the intellectual, architectural, and agricultural heritage of Mad, while embracing the advancements of modern design. The winery has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2018, recognizing its outstanding creativity and contribution to the field of architecture and design.
Experience the magic of Moonvalley, where tradition and innovation intertwine, creating a truly unforgettable wine-tasting experience.
